Rare owl rescued from cruise ship golf course

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

We all feel at home at the golf course, but one creature took this a little too far recently when he set up home on a golf course.

But this wasn’t just any old golf course; this was the golf course on the world’s largest cruise ship. And a rare burrowing owl chose this as his home.

The owl was seen on the Oasis of the Seas cruise ship just before it was about to set sail and head to the Caribbean. The owl was caught and set free into the wild.

This little birdie is one that should stay as far away from golf as possible in the future.

Golf gone wrong

Playing a round of golf is meant to be a relaxing past time. You go out to unwind, get some fresh air and perfect your technique.

But one man’s round of golf was anything but relaxing when he accidentally set fire to a golf course by misplaying a shot.

The player saw that his shot had landed in the rough. He took a shot to get the ball out of the rough but hit a rock as he did so. This caused a spark and the rough set alight.

The fire spread right across the 12 acres of the golf course in California and 150 firefighters tackled the blaze.
